You Should (Probably) Drink Your Coffee Black Posted on 21 Feb 13:41

The University of Illinois recently conducted a study that concluded 68 percent of coffee drinkers add sugar, cream, or milk to their java. According to the study, these add-ins pack on an additional 25,185 extra, mostly empty, calories to our beloved caffeinated beverages over the course of a year. That's bad. Very bad. Says lead researcher Ruopeng An, "most of these calories are from sugar and saturated fat, both of which are recommended for substantial reduction by the American dietary guidelines." In other words, ditch those sweeteners and go black (those artificial sweeteners like Splenda are just as bad, having been linked to obesity, and Type-2 diabetes).
