Coffee Grounds Can Clean Dirty Water Posted on 10 Oct 13:39

As if coffee needs any more reasons to be amazing, the American Chemical Society just gave us another one because, well, coffee. After several experiments, scientists realized that the chemicals in coffee, such as fatty acids, cellulose and polyphenols, bind to many of the heavy metals typically found in unfiltered water. By adding sugar and silicone to coffee grounds, the researchers were able to make a foamy brick that when submerged into water, would bind to metal ions, thus acting as a filter. The bricks were proven to be up to 99% effective. Click here to learn more about the amazing discovery and be sure to let us know if you decide to make your own coffee bricks.
